La Rue Mouffetard | Paris

One of my favorite streets in Paris! 

This one is particularly dear to me because it's where I lived and spent much of my time enjoying its unique charm.

Beloved by the locals, La Rue Mouffetard's unique blend of history, culture, and daily Parisian life makes it a must-visit destination in Paris.

La Rue Mouffetard is unique for several reasons:

• Historical Significance: Dating back to the Roman era, it is one of the oldest streets in Paris, offering a tangible connection to the city's ancient past.

• Vibrant Street Market: It hosts one of the oldest and most lively street markets in Paris, where locals and visitors can purchase fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, and other gourmet delights.

• Charming Atmosphere: The street retains its old-world charm with cobblestone paths, narrow lanes, and traditional Parisian architecture, providing a picturesque setting.

• Cultural Blend: It is a melting pot of cultures and activities, with quaint shops, bustling cafes, and a vibrant community atmosphere. This mix makes it a lively and dynamic part of the city.

Start your journey with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you can take in breathtaking views of the cityscape. Stroll along the charming streets of Montmartre, home to the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica & vibrant artists’ square, Place du Tertre -my personal favorite!

Explore the Louvre Museum to marvel at masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. I personally love the permanent Egyptian art exhibit the Louvre offers!

Don’t miss a leisurely walk along the Seine River, where you can discover the picturesque bridges and bookstalls. Where you may hop on a boat cruise such as the Bateau Mouche, you will not regret it.

Savor exquisite French cuisine in cozy bistros, and indulge in delectable pastries at local patisseries. It is almost impossible to find “bad food” in Paris. Oh  if you are a wine lover... You are in for a treat!

A trip to Paris is incomplete without visiting the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral and the historic neighborhood of Le Marais, known for its narrow medieval lanes and trendy boutiques. As the sun sets, enjoy a romantic evening cruise on the Seine, soaking in the city’s illuminated landmarks.

My first apartment in Paris was right by Notre-Dame - I could see the Cathedral every day from my window :) Fun fact!
